Joanne began her music education at a young age of three. A passionate musician, she gained her Associates Degree at the age of thirteen and Licentiates Degree in Piano performance, from Trinity College London at the age of fifteen, both with Distinctions. She was awarded the Kawai Distinguished Student Award, attaining the highest Distinction in South East Asia. While her main instrument is the piano, she also plays the violin and organ and has had several years of flute and clarinet training.
She has performed and given Master Classes in various countries and has, since 2016, been studying voice with Barbara Bland at Oakland University. With almost 25 years of experience teaching students from 2-80+ years of age, she is dedicated and passionate about creating well-rounded musicians, training and prepping them to enjoy and share with others, a lifetime of music.
Joanne Gorney
Joanne volunteers at her parish, St. John Vianney Catholic Church, as a Cantor, Lector, and EM. She is the Assistant Director of the Adult Chorale, Director of the Children’s choir and subs for many churches as the Music Director for Sunday masses. She also works at Oakland University as a Collaborative Pianist and is a founding member of Hosanna Ministry, a non-profit organization, providing scholarships to religious sisters and nuns interested in pursuing theology studies in U.S. Colleges. She loves the opportunity to be able to share the Word of God through her gift of music in various ways each day.
